8-12 Years Circuit Development Sessions
We’re really passionate about providing opportunities for all ages and abilities of cyclist at Clancy Briggs so this May we’re trialling some new development sessions for young racing cyclists, with the first session taking place on Wednesday 4/05/22 (road bikes are required for this session).
We already run a successful “Talent development session” on Wednesday evenings from the Doncaster Dome cycle track, between 18:30-20:30. This session is focused on young racers aged between 12-16 & regularly attracts between 20-30 of the country’s best young riders.
But what about younger riders?
We often get asked if we run any sessions for younger riders who would like to start learning the techniques needed for bunch racing. From May this spring we’ll be trialling a weekly “Circuit Race Development Session” for younger cyclists aged between 8-12. These sessions will be focused on developing the skills and techniques needed to ensure a seamless transition into our older “Talent Development Sessions” & into bike racing itself.
What do our Coaches think?
We asked regular coach on the TDC’s Ali what he thought about the new circuit development sessions, here’s what he had to say…
” The new sessions really fill a gap, we have a busy race class on Saturdays full of younger riders, but the jump across to the 2-hour Talent Development session on Wednesdays is pretty big. The new Circuit Development session will really allow us to teach the younger riders the techniques needed to ride swiftly and safely in a bunch. This in turn will smooth their transition into the older group and help give them the confidence and skills needed for racing. We’re really passionate about driving cycling in the Doncaster area and I think this session will add to the pathway of opportunities that we’re creating”.
Where & When?
Our Circuit Race Development sessions will run on Wednesday evenings, 18:00-19:30 from the Doncaster Dome cycle track, Bawtry Rd, Doncaster DN4 7PD. Sessions will cost £8.25 per person. Road bikes are required for this session.
