Celebrating the CB Coaches during UK Coaching Week 2021
The Clancy Briggs Academy is proud to provide the highest quality cycling coaching - in a group session or 1-2-1, whether in person or virtual.
As this week is UK Coaching Week, it's seems like the perfect time to celebrate the talented coaching team we've assembled at the CB Academy.
Our coaches have all been personally selected by our founders - Ed Clancy OBE and Graham Briggs - and the programmes have been tried and tested by them too, having experienced similar drills, exercises and techniques when they themselves have been coached by world-class coaches.
We also regularly feature guest coaches at masterclasses and have guest speakers at our virtual Youth & Junior Development programme.
The CB Coaching Team
Here's the lowdown on the CB Team and why they are brilliantly qualified to coach the next generation of young cyclists:
Ed Clancy OBE
Ed started cycling when he was just 5 years old. By the time he was 15, he was noticed by coaches at a British Cycling event and was selected for the first intake into the newly-formed British Cycling Academy System. As a 3 x Olympic Champion (with hopes for Tokyo 2021) and a 6 x World Champion, Ed has cycled with the best.
Graham Briggs
Graham was winner of the first ever round of the Tour Series in 2009. He's also been British National Champion & enjoyed a podium placing on a stage of the Tour of Britain. By his own admission, one of his proudest moments was winning an International Stage Race at the Tour Du Loir Et Cher.
Ali Slater
Ali has over 300 races under his pro-belt. He says his biggest career highlight was during his time riding for JLT when he won the final, hardest stage of a race at the UCI event Kreiz Breizh Elites.
Ed O'Connell
Ed’s journey to coaching was slightly unconventional, having always been able to ride a bike he didn’t start cycling ‘properly’, as he puts it, until he was 17. But once he started training, he soon caught the bug and started doing crits and road races. Choosing Derby University because of its proximity to the new velodrome, Ed broke the National University Team Pursuit record with fellow team mate Charlie Tanfield, before joining Vitus Pro Cycling as a soigneur & mechanic.
And Let's not forget the guest coaches
