Spring Cycling Clothing Recommended By Our Coaches
Saturday 20th March 2021 is officially the first day of spring, so it’s only a matter of weeks before we start shedding some of the winter clothing for a more spring-like cycling wardrobe.
Our deadline for the next clothing order is 7 March, so it seems only fitting that we give you the lowdown on the best buys for Spring Cycling.
Here are the Top 5 Spring cycling clothing purchases recommended by Team CB.
1. Winter Jacket - Recommended by Ed Clancy OBE
Ok, so it still says winter in the name, but Ed has his reasons for recommending this particular item: “I just got one myself recently and for cold dry days it's perfect. In the winter, you’d wear it with a thicker undervest, but you just reduce the layers as the weather improves. Being fluorescent is always a good thing for safety at that time of year while we are still low on light.”
With a fleece lining it’s perfect protection from cold weather but you also won’t overheat thanks to its high breathability. We do an adults version of this jacket and a kids version is available too.
2. Long Sleeved Jerseys - Recommended by Graham Briggs
Graham says: “I love this item for adults. I’ve just ordered one for Ali Slater and me in time for Spring”
This is a Spring must-have. It’s perfect for a long ride as temperatures start to improve. With under-sleeve inserts made from carbon fibre fabric, it also has reflective details to increase visibility.
For the kids, Graham recommends this long sleeved MTB Jersey
3. The Rainmem S/S Wet Weather Race Jersey - Recommended by Ali Slater
Ali says: “Warm and water resistant, perfect for early season races or changeable weather training days.”
This jersey is a closer fitting cut and made from a water-resistant membrane material. Designed for chilly and rainy weather it will ensure maximum protection and comfort without losing any speed.
4. Lightweight Gilet - Recommended by Ed O’Connell
Ed says: “The Gilet gets my vote. essential for spring riding as it starts to get warmer”
With sides and underarms made from elastic fabric to deliver a perfect fit this gilet’s high collar offers protection for your neck. It also has three rear pockets and reflective details to increase visibility.
This item is available for adults and kids.
5. Bib Shorts & Leg Warmers - Recommended by Graham Briggs
Graham says: “During Spring you’ll usually want to transition out of tights into bib shorts and leg warmers”.
Our bib shorts are elastic and breathable with lycra power fabric that offers freedom of movement. The flat seams ensure maximum comfort. Anti-slip grippers around the legs to prevent riding up.
