Youth (u16 & u14) Race Team Applications
Exciting Opportunity for Aspiring Cyclists: ClancyBriggs Cycling Academy Expands Youth (u16 & u14) Race Team!
At ClancyBriggs Cycling Academy, we're passionate about fostering the next generation of talented cyclists. This year, we’re thrilled to offer a unique opportunity for a select number of Youth A & B riders to join our youth race team, where they’ll get the support, coaching, and experience they need to help them develop as individuals & take their cycling to the next level.
What’s on Offer?
For the chosen athletes, we’re providing:
- Race Kit: Ride with pride in our one of our ClancyBriggs Race suits, representing the academy in style. We’ll provide each selected rider with a free pro racesuit & any additional kit at cost.
- Elite Coaching: Enjoy a full season (between now & 1st October 2025) of professional coaching from either Ali Slater or Graham Briggs, both accomplished riders with the experience to help young athletes reach new heights.
- Free Group Training Sessions: Attend our regular group race training
sessions at no cost. You’ll train alongside our ex-pro coaches & like-minded riders, improving
both skill and technique.
Our Wednesday race training sessions take place at the purpose built Doncaster Dome Cycle Track, 18:30 - 20:30, aimed at u14/16's & juniors. We also run Saturday race class sessions for younger riders (8 years +).
Why Clancy Briggs Coaching?
Our Youth Development Coaching Programme is focused on riders between the ages of 16 and Under, we aim to provide a comprehensive package of support that will assist with young rider’s development. At this age we’re not focused solely on performance, we’re dedicated in supporting riders to develop into well rounded, independent, adaptable and resilient athletes.
Although we begin to place more emphasis on training techniques and improving power data, we still place great emphasis on skill acquisition & creating good training habits. We encourage riders to think about and actively participate in setting their own training, help them create goals and teach them how to feedback effectively. As riders develop we begin to look more at the physiological side of things and the experience of our coaches helps us when setting relevant training sessions and analysing rider’s data.
We think that the combination of our racing experience, opportunities to train with us in person & focus on all round development means we're offering an unparalleled youth coaching service.
Wednesday Training Sessions?
Our Wednesday Race training sessions run each week & cater for riders aged 10 - 17. We begin with the u12's & u14's at 18:00 and run for 90 minutes, concluding at 19:30. This provides younger riders with 30 minutes of exclusive track time before being joined by the U16s and juniors. During this period, they will have the opportunity to warm up and concentrate on refining their racing techniques, setting a solid foundation for the rest of the session.
As the older riders join at 18:30, the younger riders will benefit from the added challenge of riding alongside them as they warmup, which will help push their limits and encourage further development. For the U16s and juniors, this revised schedule ensures they have a dedicated 60 minutes at the end of the session, from 19:30 to 20:30, where the focus will be on delivering a continuous high-intensity workout, crucial for their progress in the sport. Who are we looking for?
This is more than just coaching —it’s an immersive experience in the cycling world, guided by mentors who have competed at the highest levels. We’re looking for Youth A & B riders (in the under 16 or under 14 age categories) who are not only talented but also good ambassadors, committed and eager to push their limits. Especially those who want to develop, are keen to learn & share our love of the sport.
