Cycling Activities for Schools in Yorkshire
Did you know that the Clancy Briggs Cycling Academy offers cycling activities for schools in the Yorkshire region?
As this week is Bike to School Week it seems only fitting that we let you know what we have to offer.
There are lots of ways your school can enjoy cycling training from the CB Academy. For instance:
- Half day or full day visits with an inspirational assembly by three time Olympic Gold Champion, Ed Clancy OBE
- Cycling coaching at regular after school clubs
- Learn to ride one-off masterclasses
- PE lesson packages
Within a 30 mile radius of either Doncaster & Halifax Academies, we will tailor our visit to meet the needs of the children at your school, with the flexibility for one off sessions or regular visits.
Ed Clancy OBE explains more: “I love visiting the schools, inspiring the kids by bringing the cycling to them. I tell them about my story, show them my medals, my track and road bikes and explain how I got into cycling and hopefully encourage the kids to give cycling a go. Then we run some coaching sessions with games and activities using the ramps and cones and make sure they have loads of fun.”
Ex-professional cyclist and CB co-founder Graham Briggs enjoys running the regular sessions in school. Covering all of our lesson types - Balance, Learn, Pedal & Race - the times are arranged to suit your school timetable and designed to deliver positive outcomes such as communication, observation, listening and teamwork.
Graham explains more: “We run regular after school clubs to get the kids more confident on their bikes. The sessions are around 45 minutes and we bring all the kit, including bikes where needed, and cover all the important cycling skills such as starting, stopping and moderating speed, braking techniques and bike control. The kids have a blast whilst learning an important life skill.”
Clancy Briggs is on a mission to get more young people riding regularly. With this mission in mind, we’re actively inviting local schools to get in touch to discuss how we could bring the magic of cycling to your curriculum.
