Introducing Sherwood Pines Tiny Trailblazers: Exciting New MTB Sessions for Young Riders

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Tiny Trailblazers sessions this January at Clancy Briggs Cycling Academy! Designed specifically for younger riders, these sessions will focus on developing fundamental mountain biking (MTB) skills, building confidence, and fostering a love for off-road cycling in a fun and engaging environment.

Taking place on selected Sundays, Tiny Trailblazers offers the perfect introduction to the world of MTB. Our qualified coaches will guide young riders through essential techniques, ensuring they gain the skills needed to tackle off-road terrain with confidence. These sessions act as an ideal stepping stone towards our popular Sherwood Pines Holiday Camps—a fantastic next step for young cyclists ready to take their MTB adventures further.

Required ability – This session is aimed at beginners, riders must be able to ride in s straight line, use their brakes & turn a corner.

What do we get up-to? Sessions are focused on building skills, learning fundamental technique and having fun. We'll work on skills like...

  1. Braking control.
  2. Slow bike control
  3. Standing up.
  4. Flat turns.

What sort of bike do I need? A basic, well maintained bike, fitted with off road tyres.

What equipment is needed?

  1. Working bike & helmet – this doesn’t have to be a high-end model but must be of good quality suitable for advanced off-road terrain and in good working order. Helmets must of appropriate size/fit for the rider & must be in good condition (no cracks) If you’re not sure if your bike is sufficient then feel free to contact us on [email protected] & our coaches can advise you further.
  2. Warm clothing and waterproofs. You can’t have enough of these even if the weather looks great, we’ll be outside all day and once cold or wet it’s hard to warmup again.
  3. Snack/drink. Cycling is hard work, so  high energy snacks (bananas, flapjacks and jelly babies are popular) & a drink are things we suggest you bring.
  4.  Gloves – cold hands are horrible. Crashing without gloves is also unpleasant.
  5.  Sun cream (it’s always sunny in Sherwood)
